I’m glad it was you and not me hiking that slippery rock trail. It’s exhausting and takes so much concentration. Congrats on making it without slipping. The cross is gorgeous. What a special moment.
Oh my gosh - that downhill. I was almost going to mention in my last comment on the prior post, that it would be a longer day if you were going to Ponferrada, as we did when I was there. That was one long day. No photos can capture that downhill from El Acebo.
And getting to Cruz de Ferro hoping for solitude is not always possible!
May your day go well tomorrow. How I loved Villafranca del Bierzo. I do not remember the day as being too difficult, but then again, that was 10 years ago. In Villafranca we stayed in an albergue built into stone!

Mary Karen, I thought of you and your hike in Norway last summer and the really tough one you did in Glacier NP a few years back.
Amy, stunning photos at the cross. Perfect timing, I think. I love the memories/stones/cross “ceremony.”
Great photos today! Glad you didn’t have a slip and fall on that terrain! Wishing you a smoother trail and an easier day tomorrow
Thank you, Beth! I wonder if Nick did that stage and how it was for him.

Thanks, Fran, for your comment and for validating the challenge of yesterday. Getting to VdB today was pretty easy!
